Guys,

I have a lead on someone who has just broken up their Fairey hull and I should be picking up the spares later this week. There is a metal centreboard which is in in unknown condition if anyone is interested - not required for my Young (she's probably heavy enough as it is!)

Will provide details if neccessary.

I have an albi hull I'm going to 'do' at some point. I did get hold of an old wooden centreboard but never thought to check if it needs a wooden or metal one - so don't throw it out!

Any other spares? I have been collecting up the bits I need and can't remember what else I need now. At some point I need sails!

I think my Albacore is about 1965 vintage.

depends on whether it is an original galvenised one....or a later aluminium one.

If Galvinised, I am not interested....as I have 2 in the garden....even threw one away a while ago.

However if it is an aluminium one......I am very interested indeed!!!!!

Plate case on Jollyboat is only wide enough for a metal plate.

cheers

Right, I've had a quick look and can report the following:

Board is galvanised in ok condition but some surface rust particularly near the tip.

There is a metal/wood composite mast but the wood has warped slightly to one side where it has been stored with the tip resting on a fence. Condition is otherwise not bad and there are loads of fittings including jumpers! There is a strange metal collar and tiny compass for fixing to the mast - the card/fluid has gone dark but could possibly be restored.

There are several fittings - tufnol winches for c'board etc.

No mast collar as far as I could see.

Sails are unseen but I have several very old suits probably dating to late '70's if you're interested.

Never mind!

just an aluminium albacore plate......well I should of course say an aluminium copy of a fairey marine galvinised albacore plate. Fairey used the same pattern for the Jollyboat and the Swordfish. But there were a few varieties of weight made by others to fit....a heavy galvinised plate......a very heavy galvinised plate....an extremely heavy bronze plate (don't laugh....had one....got stolen...not surprising considering the value!) But a few people made aluminium plates to same design......these can be good....but it all depends on thickness and quality of ali plate. I have seen some very good ones, but the one I have on my jolly is horrible.....hence my always looking for another one.

cheers anyway
