Zenith 81 - FREE to a good home - needs work

Post by azimuth »

Zenith No.81 probably built in 1963 or 4 - Free to a good home, complete with rig and sails however hull needs quite a bit of work. Both my father and I have other Zeniths - this was a spare he aquired but unfortunatley I can't see either of us finding the time to try and sort it out and get it sailing again so it is time to look for someone who will...

The Zenith - a true lost class so a very CVRDA boat - was designed in 1959 by Ian Proctor, it drew on his experience of designing both out and out racers (MRs, I14s) and and the larger, more friendly Waf. His aim was to create a one-design, more affordable alternative to the MR with the same speed but slightly less twitchy characteristics. The choice of the name 'Zenith' for the class indicates Proctor's view of this design's place in his ouvre of dinghy designs (I'm a bit of a fan of the boat - can you tell?).

Here are some pics of Z81:

It is no small job but if anyone is interested send me a pvt.
