aaaahhhhh...but that would depend on which of the Merlins was being discussed....

Cor - this could be like musical chairs - a case of 'anyone want a Smokers'?

no I'm afraid it will be the proctor mk vi 1099 which will need regluing. I'm begining to think that a strip down and viking funeral might be the only option, unless someone comes and fetch it.

The catamaran is going too [anyone want one? ]

well she's in her new home back in Wales and I'm wondering whether to put her on the water or to dry her out, strip all the paint off and see what needs doing. For some reason I thought she was a glass one and never considered asking. Not that it matters, it just means I need to ba a little more thorough in how I approach any work.

Comments? Suggestions?

Tony,

No, she's lovingly made in cold moulded veneer by Jack Chippendale.

I'm sure you know by now that the boat is not really Unit 7 but Unit 2 and was very much in evidence at the IYRU Trials at La Baule - I have a picture of her on the beach there. The wood is in very good condition - you could if so wished take the paint off and go back to a varnished hull.

I've a much lighter weight mast here if it is any good to you....

Good luck with the old girl..

another mast might be useful, but possibly a long way off. I had harboured ideas of bringing her down to the CVRDA nats but I think it's most likely I'll bring the merlin again this year, if I can find a crew. Maybe pick up the mast then?

glad to hear she has a home now. I'm sure she would look stunning if taken back to varnish.
