Good prang! Looks like a shark had a go...
Actually, If Al and his B Class cat were around at the time, it could well have been...

Thank goodness it's a long way away from me otherwise I would be very tempted.... I have from a small boy always wanted to sail an FD but to be realistic this is going to cost rather more than the petrol to wales!

Oh if only I had the sheds, the time, the money, and the water big enoughto sail her on. I to have always loved the Fd from afar.

Re: Is it a Ferarri? Oh no....it's a Flying Dutchman
The boat is/was called Shifter. Very very fast in the light to medium and especially in a slight chop. Once owned (possibly from new) by Keith Paul. I hope he doesn't see the pictures! She spent a long time at Hayling before moving to Wales whereafter it was never seen on the circuit again. Last I heard of her was probably 5 or 6 years ago when she was apparantly in a very sorry state - possibly having been damaged at that point. It's good to see she's now under cover but, from what I can gather this would be a brave purchase for anyone but the most experianced restorer unless some major work has already been done. Heart breaking really - she was beautiful and, in the right hands and conditions used to give us a really good run for our money in modern Maders with more advanced rigs.
I may not be very clever but I can lift heavy things

Very sad and as James said a brave repair to say the least, obviously damaged without insurance....

Re: Is it a Ferarri? Oh no....it's a Flying Dutchman
looks like it finished early....
hope this means someone has now got it and intends on re-building.
Personally, I don't think it looked like an immense bit of boatwork.....
the hull will be just a case of building a bit of mould and fitting the veneers in till its flush....but it is all under the paintwork, so you can possibly take a few liberties.
The big question is do you re-deck? If you do, then the repair is irrelevant in the overall scheme of things. If not, then, you will simply have a patch, which wouldn't be so hard to do.....but just a bit ugly.
cheers
