Classic Merlin Rocket sails

Post by dlee3660 »

I have been given a suit of old Merlin sails which belonged to an elderly gentleman who used to sail at Starcross, who would like me to sell them on his behalf. Details as follows -

McNamara X mainsail - measured 23/6/73 (sail number 2583). Could do with a clean, but has had very little use and hence still very crisp / stiff. Includes a set of fibreglass battens.

Jib #1 - sailmakers logo unknown (maybe early Morrison?). Measured Sept 1972 and in VGC.

Jib #2 - sailmaker as above, but appears unused and has never been measured.

Both the jibs and the main are somewhat creased from having been stored folded in their original small bags for about 30 years, but are otherwise in amazing condition. These would be just perfect for any classic boat with a 1970's era rig.

Price? I'm just looking for a donation to the RNLI - best offer by 1st July secures.

I also have a modern 2009 Speed mainsail available in VGC - £150 ono

Can I ask if you still have these sails?

I have MR 2191, which has two sets of sails but these are past their best.

How much are you asking for them?
