To me, a star yacht is one of those little wooden sailing toy boats built on a lathe. Mine and Charlie's are sitting on the window ledge. Much more manageable!

If you're interested there's more about the Star Class (or another class also called the Star!) on the website of West Kirby Sailing Club.

I'd not buy a boat off him...(for those who are unaware and are now put off buying the ToY, don't be please...Tiz me sailing it...) (or maybe that was unnecessary, as this isn't the Y&Y forum, where Irony is a foriegn concept...)

yes......99% certain that this is a Bonito.
An early version of the Laser (two part unstayed mast et al) but to much of a 'beach boat'..... very flat aft sections so fun offwind in a breeze. Popular for a while late 60's but never really made the jump from fun boat to serious racer.

Another innovative design that failed to really 'make it'

Yep Bonito but the beam taking the upper pintle is a modification.
Cheers Al
PS Boat made by Pearson friend at school had one called swinging creeper. Quite fast off wind but would n't set any records to windward. Laser killed it off.

She was fairly slow on yardstick - 104 - which put her nearer the Minisail than the Laser in performance. Just shows, actually, how big a breakthrough the Laser was in singlehanded performance for a beach boat. Still don't want one, though!
