Flying 15 No1

Post by Rupert »

FF No1.jpg
I have had a request from Andy Smith to post the following ad. Please PM me and I will put you in touch. He has also sent more photos.

Subject:
Flying Fifteen number 1

Message:
Hi,

My dad currently owns ff number 1 and is looking to find a new home
for her. Wondered if you know of anyone who would be interested or
would be willing to share that the boat is available.
Not sure of the price, so open to offers, but more important that it goes
to a good home. Includes certificate. It is currently in the Lake District having been
restored (and subsequently sailed briefly) a few years ago. Sad to say
that she's currently just gathering dust!

All the best,
Andy Smith

A few years ago FF #1 was for sale needing more or less a rebuild - has this happened? She was I think in Wales, and not in good condition. There was a lot of rot in the counter, and arround the keel / inner keel.

Good news if she is now sailing again!

This one does really appear to be No1, but I'm no expert on FFs.

The first FF was 'My Dainty Duck' this one is called 'Golden Avrid' although, for sure that receipt does give sail no 1. Curious. Perhaps the Class can provide a provenance.... http://cardifflocalguide.co.uk/dainty-d ... -than-one/

The detail you are referring to here is covered (as has been already noted by Lois Barlow) in a previous post on this site about the prototype flying fifteen, detail is here:-

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4988&hilit=Dainty+Duck

So that would suggest a definate and coincidental re-emergence of both the prototype and the 1st edition of an iconic Uffa boat!
