Hi Alan,
I have contacted Steve Clark from the C-Class association and he
suggested you may be able to help.
I have also contacted Ed Bremner from cvrda.org and am awaiting a reply.
My mother and I are trying to find a home for my fathers C-Class
Catamaran Early Bird, which he designed and hand built in the 60s. We
have both hulls, beams and accessories minus mast in my mums purpose
built garage. However she is moving now and we desperately want to avoid
breaking Early Bird up. Would you know of anyone who could take Early
Bird and either restore or use as a museum piece?
She last raced in the late 60's C-Class little Americas Cup Thorpe bay
qualifiers with a wing mast that Barnes Wallis helped design (my dad
Derek Nunn wrote to him for advice on the ground breaking wing mast design)
sadly the materials that dad used for the mast (pre-carbon) were not
strong enough and the mast broke during one of the qualifiers racing
against Reg White and Lady helmsman. (I hope these details are accurate)
The boat has layed dormant ever since.
Please do feel free to contact me and have a chat:
00 44 7826 870267
Any advice or suggestions would be gratefully received as she is too
nice to break up.

kind regards
Roger

What a wonderful piece of history, sadly I have no room and nowhere to sail her.

I dreamed of these boats as a kid, but sadly real life makes a Minisail more practical.

I like the bit where they're inspecting the top of the mast with binoculars, presumably to check the halyard lock is locked in place. Could do with that on my Canoe. My eyes are not quite good enough to be sure its locked in properly from ground level...

I watched most of those races from the beach at Thorpe Bay, great memories. In fact 3 weeks ago I went back for a Finn open, my first time back since a Finn Open,
In 1975!
