Hi everyone
some of you will rem seeing me at Bowmoor sailing club last year. My Enterprise, Katomi is now up for sail. The much loved and well maintained 1960 ent is sailed most weekends and sometimes mid week. However my knees are getting worse and I am having to give up dinghy sailing.... I thought I would put her up for sale here first as I know she will be well loved.
there is a combi road trailer
three set of sails one training one crusing one race a spair rudder and a spair center board
the hull was repainted this year and the varnish deck re varnished as was the inside

Sorry to hear that, Stephen - I was hoping we would see you at Frensham or one of the other meetings.
It might be worth looking at some of the more traditional, non sitting out classes to see if there are any which don't put pressure on the knees. I'm sure others on this site have more knowledge of those classes than me and will be able to help.

Sorry to hear of another sailor sucumbing to enterprise 'dinghy knees', I too have trouble, compounded with arthritic hands, cold wet ropes are a nightmare... ugh... Deary me, sound like a bunch of geriatrics now, my most active sailing now is reading this forum, very entertaining.
Still trying though, hope to get my tatty ent back on the water for the Chippenham event, and try to find a crew daft enough to be shouted at for a race or two..

So sorry to hear about the knees - me too - in my case Solo sailing which is notorious for knees bend if you are tallish. I have recently bought a National 12 - one of Mike Noakes Starfish circa 1961. Its a wide boat and deep so I think there is going to be room to sail with legs stretched out - and with 90 sq ft instead of what? 113 for the Enterprise. Mark you I hav'n't tried it yet.
Perhaps another solution would be a classic cruising dinghy - sit in not sit out, as Rupert rightly suggests. These tend to be a bit heavier to handle ashore but maybe a jockey wheel would solve that.

N2017 will be at Frensham in July if you want to have a look. Do come. I shall not be able to sail it by then so we could sit and enjoy dinghy talk - (I cut my teeth on Enterprises years ago).

Another thought

Character Boats build something called a Post Boat - and very nice it is - but the point here is that it as no centreboard case - very much a sit in not on and the fact that there is no case means plenty of room for legs. They are at http://www.characterboats.co.uk. As I say just a thought

Hi Steve
Opions foryou could be a YW Dayboat rarely have to sit out hard. Challenger Tri, Sunbird both sit in boats Illusion if really brave. Or If you have loads of money a Virus Magnum Tri.
Sorry about your condition.

Hi Charles
Yes they do, sailed from Hill Head. I have pictures of the one in the Isle Of Wight Classic Boat Museum. The museum is well worth a visit friendly and informal with a Jolly boat, an Uffa Fox flying lifeboat, a steam boat and an international canoe amongst many others.
