Skol Moth 'The Hopple'

Post by jpa_wfsc »

After many years of lots and LOTS of fun, it now seems time to move on. Meg has decided she prefers to sail our British Moth, the rest of us are all to big / stiff / sensible to sail The Hopple properly any more. We still enjoy a blast in her though, and if you have a good sense of humour you should get along fine.

The Skol Moth is around about the last of the 'fat' moth designs before wings came into fashion, and has an almost perfectly round hull form with widely flared winglets to give you a good hiking position.

In fair condition - a patch of the older deck paint work done has worn off, and there is some craving here and there in the gell coat. The structure seems sound. New rudder stock last year. The sail needs some attention to the batten pockets, but is useable as is.

The best possible fun for your pound, and very practical to own.

Old pictures available http://cvrda.org/coppermine/displayimag ... play_media

I will add some showing the current condition soon. Comes with an unsuitable but nevertheless better than nothing ex N12 cover, and a launch trolley.

Would swap for a project GRP Finn, or about 20 £10 notes.

Now sold - to a member at Cotswold Sailing Club.

I'm sure it will get good use, and may yet appear at local cvrda events, in any case is in good hands.

Farewell - I will miss that boat. Huge fun!
