The books are all still packed away...I confess it rings no bells, though it may well be in the little 1950's line drawing book, which has some amazingly obscure things in it. Where was Brandy Hole, or was that the nick name of the drunken designer?!

Brandy Hole is on the River Crouch, just downstream from Hullbridge. The boat is an undecked plywood dinghy about 11' long. It was rigged with a gunter rig almost identical in size to a Heron (which of course is keenly raced further down river and round the bend at Eyott Creek). The mast was bamboo, about 4" diameter and the shrouds were piano wire. About 50 were built, we raced ours and also cruised in it, my brother and I sleeping under the cover.
