Anyone restoring a vintage yacht, broad's werry etc? I have a genuine yacht's piano for sale. It is c. 1890 five octaves and the keyboard folds away. The whole thing is quite small (compared to any other upright) so also suitable for your compact and bijout Chelsea flat! It wdoes fit in an estate car. It's my daughter's and she is asking £500.
More details available. Walnut case al in good order.

Would suit a dayboat!!!!

I suppose I could do a good impression of the Titanic orchestra during a capsize. The piano might fit into Gannet. I suppose the fact it won't fit into Iska's tiny cockpit is why you are selling it!! So it's sell the piano or get a wide beamed modern Merlin!!!!!!

Haha.... the Number One essential item for your average Finn Sailor - lets face it, they'd have time to play the thing while sailing downwind!!

I have an image of Alan in wing collar and other vampire accessories laughing like a mad man playing a huge church organ while planing down Bristol Docks in the squall we had in November.

Rupert,

I wish you hadn't painted that mental picture.........

It's enough to make one - a Finn Sailor!

The Irene had a piano in her. Why not ask them?

http://www.ireness.com/

Not our sort of boat! But totally lovely and perhaps cvrda should consider a group charter for a weekend some time? I had some ace sails in Irene in the 80's (BC).

Read the restoration story - quite an epic!

Yacht piano details...
height 1.6M
width 1.3M
depth, keyboard shut, 38cm
depth keyboard open 52cm
Music desk that opens down from lid,
Case is Walnut in good condition,
five octaves CC-c
It fits into an estate car (306 peugot for instance)
It has a good tone.
It is an all wooden framed piano so expect to tune it more frequently than a modern piano.
These are quite rare and is a useful instrument too. We believe it to date pre 1900 because the tuning pins are of that period.. oblong not square heads. The name on it is Mickleburghs of Bristol. they were dealers as well as makers so it is possible thye did not make it. there are two serial numbers.
