Post by rusailing »

Hi All,

Anyone got a set of buoyancy bags needing a good home for an elderly Firelfy? Alternatively, best recomendation for buying new (seems against the grain with evertyhing else smelling like 1953!!!)

Responses much appreciated.

Got Firefly, so need the airbags..

Best buy are the Crewsavers; yes they cost more but they last ever so much longer than the cheap ones.

Bow bag is not a problem, (takes "large") but the stern bags are, because Crewsaver no longer make the extra large size that they used to make for Fireflies. You can get away with the biggest 36" bags that they do make. Some people put extra bags tied down to the hog in the middle of the stern - cuts bailing time.

When you capsize, you can usually avoid filling her right up. If you are unlucky, remember to stuff summat in the c/b case! (DAMHIKT, as they say)

I have two of those Crewsaver bags in my Firefly - they meet the minimum buoyancy set out in the rules section of the RYA for the class.
