Classic Int 14 rudder
Classic Int 14 rudder
Hi
I am looking for a rudder for a 1957 Int14 - Fairey type or similar e.g. with elliptical(?) blade and curved stock. The condition is immaterial. Failing that can anyone give me a pattern/drawing/sketch/photo/measurements so i can make one.
Thanks Robert

Re: Classic Int 14 rudder
Hi Rob,
Well it would of been easy to trace one when I still had the Fairey 14.....
but now harder.
the only thing I would say is that the Fairey Firefly, the Fairey 14 and the Fairey Jollyboat all had absolutely identical spoon rudders except for the scaled up in size from small on the Firefly to pretty damn big on the Jollyboat.
I can still trace one of those if you want!
cheers

No need, the shape is here in the pdf file with the RYA Firefly class rules. Scroll down to page 21...Ed wrote:Hi Rob,

I have such a rudder for K869. I can trace it if you like. It worries me actually because like the centreboard, it seems very small for the boat.
I will take a picture.

Thanks Nessa - a picture would be helpful. If possible could you put a ruler or piece of A4 on it somewhere so i can compare its size with the firefly foil pattern.

Hi,
I have an old wood Laser daggerboard in the loft, it is slightly deformed but you could probably get a rudder blade out of it!

If no-one else wants it......what about the CVRDA buying that Solo C-board and cleaning it up for a Trophy somewhere?

What, because the 14 mast step doesn't take up enough room in a house?Ed wrote:If no-one else wants it......what about the CVRDA buying that Solo C-board and cleaning it up for a Trophy somewhere?

A Solo centreboard case as a trophy!! If you brought it home you would certainly be alone!!
