Boom for OK

I have remembered that I know someone who has an OK rotting in his garden. I have emailed to see if he has a boom. Will let you know. I have to await the insurers verdict on the Europe.

I've been following all this, as there are similarities with my Europa Moth. My wooden boom measures 289cm overall, having been cut down to fit between jaws on a Needlespar.......unfortunately there are no bands on the boom so I'm not sure how much overhang there is and whether a modern Europe boom would be the same length, but worth checking out?

By the way, the mast I'm still looking for needs to be a wooden one (I have a Needlespar at present) as I want to make her as original as I can, like the one I owned in my youth. The restoration of the hull is well under way now, but it looks as if we may get an offer on the house now, (an excellent way of generating interest: start a project!) so this is going make a move interesting! I'll try and get pics sorted soon.

It also occurred to me that an OK wooden mast might be adaptable for my Moth, but I don't know the dimensions. Does anyone knowthe OK mast length off hand?

Nessa, what happend to K11?......will you try and keep the boat if you get the insurance?......useful spares or possible repair as a trainer?

Sami, I think the mast ram gave way on a windy gybe, giving the mast foot free rein in the bottom of the boat, so it decided the quickest way home was sideways through the foredeck. It is fixable, but I'm waiting for a quote from P&B. Cetainly there's use for all the spares - I have the woodie hull waiitng to to be done, but I'd rather have the hull done really.

I found a mystery boom in my kestrel today. This boat gets used as a storage unti at the club. When i have more time I will haul it out and try to work out what it is.

Nessa, that sounds like a nasty incident with K11.....no-one hurt I hope? Nice of someone to "donate" a boom via your Kestrel

If we can get boom and board to my sister-in-law, then next time we visit my mum-in-law should be able to collect and bring to gloucestershire / swindon.
