Wanted Classic moth or lowrider

Post by alan williams »

Does anyone have a Classic Moth or low rider for sale. Not for me by the way. A friend is looking for one. Please contact me if you have a suitable boat, projects welcome.

Someone at my club has a lowrider that, last thing I heard, they are looking to sell. It's a very narrow one so not sure if old enough to be 'Classic', think they said it was a skippy or maybe skippy 2? I can find out more or put you in touch if it might be of interest....

I think you started something here Peter V, all the Finn fleet looking for Moths, what a turnup :D

Will keep a lookout for you Alan (sorry, your friend  )

I do know of an early Roland Europe / Europa moth that would qualify. Opposite end of the scale from a Skippy!

Shall we do a class swap at the next event then?

Nice idea Peter but I think I'll watch rather than join in!

Hi Ian and Keith
Keith thanks for the heads up I've emailed the details to Mike Woodhead
No way is there for me to sail a Moth. Firstly too heavy, secondly too clumsy, thirdly they would not be able to take the load and finally not fit enough. Sailed Moths quite a lot when I was a student (all 11stone of me), all that I could afford. Chelsea Morning cost me £75 to build. Most expensive item the sail £25. Later had a scow which was fun and could pan fireballs in the right conditions. The moth is for a friend, finn sailor who now has lost shed loads of weight (really skinny), and is looking for a new challenge. The rest of us will stick with the old chariots.
Cheers Al
PS Anymore Moths for sale.

The only moth I have left is The Peril. Not strictly for sale unless someone truly passionate came along. I am too big for a moth now,but would only want this boat to go somewhere she would be treasured.

Hi Guys still looking for a Moth for Mike. Thanks for details of the Skippy 2 for sale but Mikes looking for an older wider design. He's prepared to build a new one to an old design if there are any plans around. Please keep searching.
Thanks
Regards Al

What about a magnum 5? Stephen is hardly using his, I could see if he wanted to sell.

My Europa (K2588) is available......all the hard work has been done......a few bits of minor carpentry to do and then just paint and varnish. Realistically I am unlikely to sail this, mainly due to injuring my neck earlier this year, which is now causing me real problems. Just PM me if this is of any interest.

Still looking for moth for Mike. He's based at Yorkshire Dales SC. Nessa did you have any luck with finding out if the Mag 5 was for sale. Mikes looking for something which isn't to extreme and is a lowrider. Prepared to build one if plans are available.
