mast for a squib
the Club cadets have been gifted an ageing squib which has spent the last winter being bought up to a reasonable standard. The intention is to use it as an intro into keelboat sailing, with enough thrills to satisfy the yoof.
Problem is - there's no mast. Everything else is there except the mast.
Since it won't be used for racing any suitable mast will do as long as it's the right length [ 24'6" to 25'] and chunky enough.
Has anyone out there have such a thing lying around that would otherwise be heading towards the scrapyard.
If there is may I avail myself of the CVRDA Courier system to get it some way here?
Thanks all

no. it needs to be around 25' and pretty chunky. maybe a 505, Osprey or similar would do the trick, but really I'd like something that will take a backstay.

Re: mast for a squib
I think using any old dinghy mast on a keelboat would be courting trouble. Have you tried contacting the Squib CA? They may know of a suitable mast going spare.
Best wishes

you could be right, although the boat won't be sailed hard. The enquiry elves are out chasing up the Class Assoc as we speak.

Re: mast for a squib
I think the Squib hull is the same as a Hunter 19 and the cuddy on the Hunter in effect a cabin so maybe a mast from one of those would fit.
I could be wrong, anyway there is quite a Squib fleet at Levington on the River Orwell.
Whilst further up toward Ipswich the Royal Harwich YC 's keel fleet is austensibly Ajaxs, there are a few Squibs on moorings there too.
For my sins I volunteered to help out down there at Wolverstone ,as they are hosting a fleet of disabled dinghies racing, but help out seems to have transferred to taking part in the racing as they want two per dinghy from Clubs various(mine the Stour).
That is early May if you aren't in too much hurry I can ask Geoff the boatswain if he knows if there are any gash Squib masts lying about, you never know.

No- the Hunter 19 is a masthead rig whilst the Squib is fractional. Thanks for the offer re: enquiry, much appreciated.

Tony, put a wanted in Dinghy Bits on Facebook? I know a few East Anglian Squib or similar sailors who I could tag.
