vagabond sails

Vagabond sails

Message:
Hello,
I am presently restoring a Vagabond dinghy (1958 VA36) in Britanny,
France.
When I acquired the boat it had been forgotten in a garage for more
than the last 20 Years, and the sails had been lost.
Could you tell me where to find the sails measurements in order to get
new ones cut.
I am still working on the hull and deck but this information would be
precious to me.
Many thanks.

My best guess would to be to put him in touch with one of the still trading UK lofts which were making dinghy sails in the 60's. Banks and Jeckells springs to mind. I'm sure there must be others still trading. One of them may still have the measurements in some dusty old filing cabinet....
Best wishes

Do I remember that Hyde's took over Holt sails? They might have info.

Jeckells and Banks certainly have all the old details, they will do Eleven Plus sails, so I assume Vagabonds as well.

Thank you all for these answers.
I think they will be very helpful.
Some people I have contacted confused Jack Holt Vagabond (12ft) with another dinghy named Vagabond of 17ft of more recent costruction.

Anyway, I found the opportunity to get new sails cut instead of their measurements by Banks and Jeckels.
I am considering this opportunity.

For those of you who would be interested, I have started a blog (in french) about the renovation of my Vagabond dinghy under this address:

Jack Holt Vagabond Dinghy VA36 on Blogspot.fr

Fair winds to all!
