I just went to deal with the Canoe trailer, which I thought needed nnew wheel bearings, and gota nasty shock. The big problem is not the bearning but the axle. The outer bearing has been spinning on the axle and has worn millimetres of metal away... No choice but a new axle really. But its not an indespension unit. Its the old style of trailer with a spring steel bar under the frame and plain axles bolted to it. I could doubtless get a competent engineering shop to turn one up, but it takes time (and money) and its the Canoe Champs next week. Has anyone any idea where I might get one off the shelf?

If i understand you correctly and that you only have two small axels about 1foot long on each side of the trailer bolted to a spring you should be able to salvage these of most snipe boat trailers as both of mine have these, both old and newer ones.
Good luck with finding some.

Thanks for the thought. Couldn't find one but have found a local engineering shop that will turn one up for me.
