Balcotan + Epoxy = ??

Post by Craig N »

Hi everyone,

Still plodding along with the repair to the inside bottom of my ent. Having filled the hole (about 5x5cm) with epoxy and microfibres, I am ready to glue and screw back the support onto the top of this. My question is can I use Balcotan to glue the marine ply support to the epoxy filled section, or will this create problems? Perhaps I would be better off using neat epoxy? Any advice welcome!

Cheers,

Craig

...A worry that will always bother you...
Use epoxy for anything structural, especially if it is involved already.
I used balcotan to fix Saskia's decks down, some of which was over epoxy repairs, and it hasn't gone wrong so far, but for anything else I'd avoid it. And it still worries me, 3 years or so later!

Ok - Thanks very much for that, Rupert. Will go ahead with epoxy as advised.
