Free uffa king

Post by chris »

National 12 no 941 Uffa King design 1950/51 . This is a restoration project and is free to the right person. It's ribbed and needs quite alot of work but is certainly worth the effort. 2 Ali masts plus the original wooden one (needs regluing) Most, if not all of the bits are there. Hull needs repair but is mostly sound. I could only see one plank that is split. new deck needed. It has been living in a poly tunnel which has been dismantle and is now exposed to the elements. The owner has some paperwork for it which he will dig out.

Email me and I can send photos. but will try to put some up here.
Lying near Frome, just south of Bath

Hi Chris
Can I suggest you also put this on the National 12 web site-boats for sale section which is free. If you have any problems let me know and I can put it on for you.

Hi Chris - any chance you can get some polythene sheeting over the hull to prevent further deterioration while I think about it and discuss implications with my partner.

It's quite an ask even as a freebie.

I hope to get back to you in a week or so - unless someone else jumps in!

Cheers

I'll see what I can do. I am concerned about rain and also hot sun now too. So don't take too long to decide to take it on!

I sent an email to owners of this 12 about a fortnight ago and am thinking of following up by phone as I haven't received a reply yet, but before i do would like to check that no one else wants the boat as I already have a queue awaiting repair.... Can offer sheltered storage in the mean time until I get round to it though. So, if you want it, please let me know sooner rather than later.

As far as I know only Tim G (above) has shown interest.
Try phoning during the day to his Nursery, where the boat is.
Barters Farm Nursery, Chapmanslade,
01373 832694 ask for Leigh Walker. They will probably give you his office number.

OK, have now spoken to the owner and will hopefully collect the boat next week, however it'll be a while before i can do anything with her, so if anyone has more immediate plans for restoration please let me know and rescue me from my folly!!!!

Well done Al. You know it makes sense!
Glad to know it has a future. I'm sure Leigh will be pleased too.
