GRP GP14s
GRP GP14s
Hunts has decided to go for two of these as training boats (a victory for common sense over the assy plastic tubs), so if anyone knows of any up to the job and under £1,000 each please let me know.

Re: GRP GP14s
It will be quite hard to find two that match the criteria. I spent 4 months looking and then bought a Wayfarer but I was not prepared to go too far North.
Good idea though and good luck.

Re: GRP GP14s
I do like the look of the Cornwall one, but it might be too far....then again, if it's decent enough. It has now appeared on ebay not finishing until the 4th Jan. Is anyone down that way that could take a look for me?
I am off to see this one tomorrow:

any suggestions as to what I need to look out for - I don't have much knowledge of gps.
All this has landed on my plate because I have accepted the poisoned chalice of Principal. Good for the CVRDA because if the turnout is good this year I can push for further meetings at Hunts.

Re: GRP GP14s
Assume you mean GP's? not gps?
Assuming that I don't suppose GP's are much different from any other GRP boat, look for hairline cracks and unrepaired holes in the Gel Coat all of which could mean osmosis which in a small boat is pretty much tombsville. Inside it will be obvious if there are problems. As to the rest usual rules apply. WYSIWYG.

Re: GRP GP14s
I do indeed mean GPs. My typing isn't up to much right now. I did the damage wrestling with a cleated mainsheet in an RS Vision....
Apparently the MK1s had an issue with leaky drainage tubes, but this is a MK2, so hopefully that won't be a problem.

Re: GRP GP14s
Thats the trouble with memory but imperfect thread discipline! She posted elsewhere (Another CVRDA thread.) saying she was "off games" ie sailing for at least two months only yesterday like everyone I wish her better and am sorry that she feels the NHS have been slow.

Re: GRP GP14s
Couldn't agree more. I was off for a while a couple of years ago with torn rotator muscles in my shoulder, and again with a torn tricep (blame Baltic Wharf for that one!) and it is no fun at all having to sit out of games, but it is best in the long run.
