plastered

Post by Nessa »

You may have gathered from the influx of daft questions and admissions of ignorance about such mysteries as peel ply, that I am a condemned woman eating a hearty breakfast of good advice before I go to my doom: this Wednesday (with just four days notice) I am going under the knife (well, through the keyhole actually) and finally having the surgery on my wrist. I will be modelling the resultant plaster cast when you see me at Hunts (I hope).

Active Seal Waterproof Plaster Cast Protector for arms and legs. The cover easily stretches over your plaster cast or bandage making a watertight seal which means you can swim in the sea or the swimming pool knowing your cast or bandage will stay completely dry.

Nessa,
I can only wish you good luck in the certain knowledge you are in the hands of professionals, one thing though I have recently seen some very pretty coloured plaster casts (Post ski ing I suspect.) it may be worth asking for it, and having a word with the plasterer too about bulk, they tend to just slap it on - more is better - and the weight can be quite a lot, when I had my last hand op the surgeon admitted (It was done under a nerve block - fascinating to watch - one felt absolutely detached!) she was under the cosh time wise and did I mind coming back in a couple of days to get it replastered I said no but I was going to be with my daughter a vet could she do it? Of course she can and probably neater than me was the answer and so it was! I hasten to add she - my hand surgeon is not only very very good at her job; were it not for her my hands would have been useless 10 years ago; but a very good egg as well.

Good luck Nessa Look forward to seeing you and your cast at Hunts. On the plastic thingy they are very good my stepson had one when he broke his ankle not cheap but well worth the money. Of course you could alway make one out of a dry suit?

Good Luck Nessa,

My daughter is sporting a colourful cast at the moment, and they are waterproof (she has just come back from swimming!)
She had to have a boring plaster one for the first week or so, but then they swapped it for a relatively tasteful purple colour (they didn't have Barbie pink she was dismayed to learn.)

nessa,

If I see you with an italian cold moulded, diagonally planked cast, complete with foam core, I can assure you that I will protest under rule 5!

I too will be at the hospital, though luckily it is not for me, my son though has picked up a cancellation so it getting his bone graft done early! I did offer him the services of ian ridge, complete with a roll of Carbon tape and a tub of microballons but he declined - silly boy, you can repair anything with that!

Let us know when you're let out and I can give you an update on M14s, Merlins and Contenders.

Take care though, we're thinking best wishes for you
