Books or website
Can anyone suggest a simple ILLUSTRATED book of racing rules. If there is a web download which explains the positions of overlaps and right of way etc etc when sailing that would be good - have only managed to get a text version and having to imagine the whole thing is a problem. (Having said that I will in general be the boat astern so likely not a problem until I am lapped!!!)
2005 - 2008 The rules in practice by Bryan Willis was the one I got at Bowmoor, and it seems pretty good. Published by Fernhurst books, http://www.fernhurstbooks.co.uk

The Brian Willis book is one of the best. The RYA also publish a small ring bound book of the real basics which is great. Always read the main rule book (About £6 from the RYA)along side the explanation books. It is The Rule Book that counts. You could try http://www.uksailmakers.com for an excellent rule quiz with annimation.
"The Rules Book" by Eric Twiname, revised by Brian Willis, has lots of pictorial situation diagrams and clear explanations which cover almost everything (including the argument we had at Shearwater in the summer!).
It also has the full rules formally set out in the last part.

Garry,
I thought this one from the Canadian Wayfarer site was fairly good
