The Lost Classes will Rule........beware

Post by davidh »

Beware indeed.....

If all goes to plan and I get a following wind, a downhill home run....a few lucky breaks (okay..have run out of cliches) then.....

next year will see a new addition to the ranks of the Lost Classes. (and no - this is NOT the rumoured fast plywood special...) - but a boat that will be happy going head to head with the M14s and Marauders.

No more clues for now other than it will be, I hope, just what the Lost Classes wing should be about - hopefully restored to it's prime and looking (and going) quick!

Watch this space for more news on this 'exciting' development - either that or wisely watch from a safe distance as (with the aid of supercrew Jon) fittings start pulling off in all directions.......

Can he now havesimple windward leeward courses with a 2 mile beat? How many laps around Shearwater would that equate too?

yes, I too had thought something spooky was going on....

on a vaguely related note the marauder (to be named Ghengis the Menace and painted black and red) emerged from the boat shed today looking worse than I remembered, but drying out has meant the paint is coming off like butter.

Looking forward to meeting your lost class, David! Would love more to come out of the wood (or GRP) work, so we can get a true fleet together.

Following the Nationals, I was wondering whether we should have an overlap on the lost classes with the other fleets - John's Skua was the obvious example there - a class with very few boats left, but probebly not a lost class, as designed before 65, or so I believe. I have a feeling we should present a trophy at the Nationals for the first boat from a lost class whatever the design date, prior to 1985, of course.

Hi Alan,

sorry - do not get the FOTFRAL??

Is that anything to do with the overweight soon to be ex-olympic singlehander that is clogging up the ranks these days?

You lot will be trying to claim that they are a lost class soon (some may wish they were now...)

D

PS - tis the other Dave...Dave Chivers - who has the brown Typhoon....

Neil....

Yes, a good point... I've seen the thread over on Banter so may place a comment or two there. I take it that my defence...that my comments were (a) true and (b) in the public interest won't wash on this occasion???????????

Cheers anyway

Not a "Mercury" by any chance? I haven't seen a "poor Man's International 14" for over 40 years.
