Hello from a Newbie

Post by thomn59 »

Just wanted to introduce myself (even though I have already posted elswhere on the forum) as my Mum always insisted that I should be polite.

Learned to sail in a gravel pit in the Midlands (Chacewater) many moons ago. Spent too many years in the forces (RN) and did some more sailiing there, but have not done much since. Catch rats for a living, live in Gloucestershire, like real ale and cannot wait to get started on the Ent project

Hello Thom,

I used to sail Ospreys at Chasewater in the 70's. Looking forward to following the progress on your Ent.
Best wishes

Hi Thom,

Welcome to the cvrda.

Another Cotswoldy sort of area type person. Excellent!

If you are boatless while working on the Ent, and aren't too far from the Cotswold Water Park, I'm sure between JPA and I we could find you a boat to have a play in.

Welcome Thom,

Your quite local to some of us then. Rupert sails at Whitefriars and a whole load of us South of Bath, Stu is in Bristol but has gone pretty quiet. Lots of events for you to meet up with us from the South and west to the East.
Look forward to seeing you.

Cor that was quick Rupert and SG got in there while I was typing.

As well as Rupert at Whitefriars, I am at South Cerney Sailing Club.

Do we have anyone from Cotswold Sailing Club?

There is another Sailing Club near Fairford as well, when the grey cells catch up....Bo... something or other. I should know as I learned to sail there!

Bowmoor...I'm an ex member, too. David Rollinson, until recently a cvrda regular, sailed there until he move to the coast recently.

We must try and do a bit of a "sell" round the Waterpark clubs for the Nationals in August, Steve - there must be other classics out there!

Rupert,

Yes we must. I had always ment to write a small article for inclusion of our club mag - geared around my initial experiences with the Merlin - but never got round to it.

My club seems to be all swept up with new lasers and Assymetrics at the moment - but we still have an Albacore, Solo and Flying 15 classes - as well as the Cadets.
