Merlin Rocket Proctor XVI MR1711

Would anyone be interested in this 1964 Merlin Rocket? It is, as the title says, a rare Proctor MkXVI, which I understand sought to combine the best bits from the heavy-weather specialist MkXV and the all-rounder MkIX. It was built by Chippendale. It is varnished inside and out - I revarnished the decks before Autumn closed in, and the hull is in very good, solid condition. There's no built-in buoyancy - it has three large Jack Holt bags. There are two large Elvstrom self-bailers either side of the centreboard case.

Price now reduced from £300 to £200 (£350 to £250 if launching trolley required)

Mast is a Proctor D or possibly C+ fitted with diamonds - the standing rigging is in good order. It needs a new wire jib halliard, and would benefit from refreshing the rest of the running rigging.

There is a decent Macnamara mainsail and two suits of main and jib, one Ratsey, the other Banks. Both are old but useable (no spinnaker). There is a spare centreboard and rudder.

It has a decent road trailer and a good Pinnell and Bax cover.

I paid around £300 for the boat and various additions - all reasonable offers will of course be considered. The boat is based in Southampton. Ideally I'd like any purchaser to collect it, but would consider any suggestions of 'meeting half way'.

Thanks to everyone who expressed interest in 1711 - the boat has now been withdrawn from sale. Hopefully I'll be able to bring it to a CVRDA event this year.

Looks a nice boat, I have sold my Mk6 (for a knockdown price), as it just wasn't getting sailed.
That said the old adage that she is going to a good new home, as they say, is of more importance than renumeration in this instance as far as I am concerned.
The new owner and her family decided to join our club rather than taking the boat to an alternative one as initially planned.
Anyway all the best of luck selling your one too.
