Help needed for HOLT celebrations

Post by chris »

To make the Wraysbury event a success we need help and have identified certain jobs that we hope individuals will volunteer to take on. Roger and Chris can’t do it all. So here’s a short list of jobs with a brief job description for you to consider. Please offer your help. (please keep this thread ON TOPIC and see the Wraysbury thread for full event details.)

BOAT REGISTER COORDINATOR. Wraysbury is not large and we need to limit the total number of boats to 50 max. We are looking for owners to sail their Holt boats but the priority is to find the earliest examples and a later (modern) example. This may mean just two or three examples of the class Holt was involved with. Roger D is going to take care of registration SEE OTHER THREAD.

PUBLICITY pre-event publicity etc.

PRESS COORDINATOR. Someone to get the press there, be a link to answer their queries etc

GUEST LIST Relevant names in the sailing world, spectators etc. someone to form a list and invite them.

ANNOUNCER/COMMENTATOR on the day.

EXHIBITION - just an idea - if people could provide photos relating to Jack Holt,* write-ups of relevant restorations, stories etc this could be set up on display boards in the clubhouse. Needs an organiser. (*Ranalagh have quite an archive)

EVENING MEAL. Again just a thought – buffet or something a bit special to round off the day with something social.

SPONSORSHIP Wraysbury have two firms in mind but someone to work on sponsorship for prizes etc would be good.

If you want I can try and spread the word of the reggatta as much as possible, to every sailing forum I know of! It isn't really a proper job, but I can try helping you.
