Flying Dutchman Wanted

Post by paul_m_downing »

Hi everybody, I'm after a Flying Dutchman,
After many years of wanting one I've decided to take the plunge now that I have the space and time.
Any condition considered. I'm an engineer who has restored a fair number of Merlin Rockets and Fireballs from rotten wrecks in to stunning concourse condition, so no job is too big!
Would be going to a loving (and dry) home in my workshop and would be used regulary.
I am located in Poole Dorset, but will travel anywhere in the UK.
I would be pleased to hear from you.
Regards
Paul

Hi Roger,

I have indeed passed the question on to them, however the UK FD website doesn't appear to have a forum.
I keep a track of Ebay and will no doubt jump on the next one that comes up, but thought I'd spreak my feelers out here to see if anything was available.

Regards

Hi Paul,

Try talking to Toby Barsley-Dale at 50north

http://50north.co.uk/#

email and phone numbers are on the contact us page.

He had a lot to do with FDs for some time and will have all the contacts. Very helpful chap.

Pretty quick in the Fd as well.

Or you could try Tony Lyall. Contact through FD class association.

Tony has kept a close eye on where all the known UK boats go to for many years.

One in particular that might have suited you was on e bay last summer. Seller was in Wales. 70's wooden boat with a big hole in one side but I remember it as a particularly nice one when it last appeared around the open meeting circuit in the late 90s. Tony may know where it went or know someone who does.

Great boats. Used to love sailing them.
