Rig measurements for Gull

Post by SoggyBadger »

Does anyone have the class rules/measurements for the spars and sails for a Gull?
Best wishes

Sorry, I didn't notice that, have you tried looking at the other pages? There is something on sails, there I think, atleast when I had a look on them there was.

There are various other forum's and class sites out there. Just put gull dinghy into search engine and take your pick.

I'm 85% sure I have the drawings for the original gunter sailplan, which I'd expect to have measurements on, but I don't have class rules or any measurements for the bermudan mast. However the luff length was the same with both because you could put a gunter sail up on a bermudan mast.

Hi Jim,

I'd be very much obliged if you could sort them out for me some time.

Cheers

If Jim cannot come up trumps, my Gull has a Gunter rig .I could get any measurements you require from it perhaps ?.
It has Collar wooden masts booms etc and a really nice set of Banks sails(no kite) that were cut for the Gunter set up.

Yep found them...
Mainsail Luff is 3'5" to th uppermosr slide on the mast track, and 11'4 from there to the peak.
Mainsail Foot is 7'1
Mainsail Leech is 16'0 from peak to clew in a straight line, no dimensions for mainsail roach
Jib Luff s 8'7
Jib foot 4'2
Boom black band is upper edge 1'9-2'1 above gunwhale (!)
Mast upper black band lower edge 5'7.5 above lower back band.
Gaff peak black band 3" below tip of gaff
Gaff lower black band lower edge 9'3 below peak black band.
Clew back band 7'2 from rear face of mast
Curiously I can't see a measurement for the jib leech
boom length 8'
mast length 10'8.25
gaff length 10'8
