Maybe an Access Liberty or similar measured with the traditional eBay tape measure.

The offset keel/daggerboard should be a bit of a giveaway.

The 75 kg of lead required for the keel could make it an expensive project.

If its not topper ,but if it is a "Spirit" yacht, then its got pedigree...

Anyone remember that yacht in which Daniel Craig arrived in at the end of Casino Royal?

I agree this has to be something from the adaptive/Sailability devevelopment. It's possible it might have been a "me too" design from the 80's when Illusions were in fashion.

In which case, a lost class. Quirky enough for your taste I think Nigel, and looking for a novel rig. Lateen perhaps? :D

And while on the subject of sailability, that off set daggerboard is interesting. Perhaps it was a bespoke model for a man with parrot, Ooh arrgh!

Definitely looks like one of those singlehanded mini-keelboats - it looks like a seat back integrated into the deck moulding behind the daggerboard case. I wonder what class it is, and if the rig from one of the better known types might fit.

No idea where the 'Topper Spirit' name comes from - to the best of my (limited) knowledge and some Googling, Topper has never produced a boat of this nature.

The offset keel will be a photographic illusion, I am sure. Otherwise its just plain daft..

Probably sailed with a weighted daggerboard, so it is very much like an illusion - about 1m to long though as the illusion is 3.3 meter long. Looks fascinating, but useless without the bits - it would cost a lot to get sailing again I'm thinking...

Hi John,

I think number of sailability designs have offset keels, probably for the practicality of boarding for a wheelchair bound sailor. Check out the boats on the sailing for all website I posted a link to.

No idea what it would do to the sailing characteristics.

Hi

To me it looks like the mini keel yachts (the french one was a kind of scale model of a america cup 12 JI called MINIJI (meant for disabled people but also valid ones and even used for an indoor yachting event at bercy stadium (a big swimming pool over the skating rink plus big ventilators...I tried!...and there used to be an amusing race in le Havre docks for club Chairmen just before the start of the Jacques Vabre Transat)

It is not a MINIJI ... there is some resemblance but there were plenty of other mini keelboats like th 2.4, the vision ...etc

The MINIJI had a moulded in hollow keel that could be fillled with specially shaped lead bocks (100Kgs!)

Obviously this one has a removavle keel that appears to be missing...and possibly the deck is missing too....
