Hi Roadford,

Just got back. Thanks for a great day if a little wet. Fantastic to be reunited with my old Hornet and thanks Dave for a great sail this afternoon.
Such a shame we couldnt do sunday as well.

Yup, I had fun, with my first test sail in the Minisprint.

It was damned windy and weather was horrible.

Racing was cancelled for the day, but Roger in Hornet, Dave in Moth and myself in Minisprint had some laughs.

Early start today to try and get a few races in.

I hope that maybe a few extra boats turn up today.

Wind is light and looks like we might even get some sunshine.

report back later, I better get up to the lake.

cheers

Hope it was as good down there today as it was at Whitefriars - shame I was in a powerboat all day!

we got back at around 11.30 last night. I survived one 'race' in the moth and now know all the things that need fixing/changing/setting alight...
I'd be interested to know how I fared in the race I did, to see how the py is working out.

the company was great, as was the barbecue and everyone was very tolerant of our dreaful swallow fixated dog. Scooby just ate what ever he could find. Excellent fun, I will come again next year and if I can get a sitter for the hounds I will try to come to Clywedog, though possibly7 with a different boat!

what I forgot to say was thank you to everyone involved in organising and running the event. Great effort in the face of adverse circumstances. Thanks very much.

Thanks to Alan and Graham for running everything. Tent, sails, clothes are now drying nicely in the somerset sun! As always we both enjoyed our weekend regardless, or in spite of the weather.
Great to see some new faces and new(old) boats.

By the way Alan, those I14 sails you had collected and passed on to me were off Witchway belonging first to Robin Steavenson and is the boat on the front cover of Marks to Starboard. He was forth in the '57 POW and describes it all in the book. The sails however date from '69. Many thanks for acting as courier.

As new boys to cvdra , I have to say we really enjoyed the weekend.

The Sunday racing was a lot of fun and company friendly

I have to confess to being relieved that Saturday racing was cancelled because I think that Two horses (the National 12) would have been match wood!

Roll on next time!

May I thank you all for attending and putting up with the atrocious conditions on Saturday. The nice comments, they are appreciated by all the people that helped run the event. I will be writing a report of the event soon. Nicky I'm sorry that the automated start system provided the sound track for your video interview. It was great to meet some new faces and people who you kind of know from the forum and then to meet them face to face. Although the event was won by an Old boat. The handicaps must be pretty good for the conditions that we had on Sunday, as a 1938 original Uffa King National 12 was second. This must be the first time in a long time that a well sailed vintage boat has appeared in the top three.
I hope everyone got home safely and look forward to seeing you next year at Roadford.
Cheers Al

What handicap did you use for the Uffa King?
