Mark Class Dinghy
Mark Class Dinghy
I've been contacted by someone looking to sell their Mark dinghy. These boats were designed in Ireland as a smaller, easier to build Finn style boat, much as the OK was in Scandinavia.
Looks like a lovely boat from the photos - wish I had space! Looks like a true cvrda classic, with her wooden mast and red sail.
The boat is based in Dorset, near Dorchester. I can email pictures and put you in touch - just email rupertatcvrda.org, swapping out the at for the symbol.
Part of his email is reproduced below:
I have not sailed the boat for 3 or 4 yeas now although I rigged it a the weekend for the photos and all looks to be present and correct and if i had been near a bit of water at the time would have happily given it a try.The sail No. is 39 and it does have a wooden mast which is sound but in need of a good sand down and a coat of varnish. It is a little soft where the boom fits in but this is a sacrificial timber plate and fairly easily replaced. The hull is sound and ( a few minor repairs over the years ) has been dry stored until march of this year. Sail is in good condition for age, rudder and centre board are all in fair order. As far as I am aware it could be sailed tomorrow but would benefit from a TLC.
I have no idea as to its value but I am looking around for an old Laser if anyone fancies a swap. If not a case of beer and a promise of a good home ( for the boat not me ) would be fantastic.
I have more photos if required and am happy to send anyone who may be interested.

Re: Mark Class Dinghy
The Lightning is the perfect Finn for me, though I do sometimes wish there was more rig set up to fiddle with.
The mark does look nice, though - I'd post a pic, but the site won't let me.

Re: Mark Class Dinghy
I have to say that I would love give it a home but for the fact that it would be a 400 mile round trip and more importantly I have not got a trailer that it would fit on.
Any suggestions?

Re: Mark Class Dinghy
This is indeed the same one.
I guess the trouble with putting boats up for sale on here is that we all already own one, or lots...

I am strangely taken by it. I wonder if he would like a ToY?
