An epic tale!

This is reminiscent of some Medical students I know who stole a Taxi to get home in after the Rugby club dinner. When they saw they had come to the attention of Mr Plod, the decision was made to "do a mad dogger" (similar to running out of the Curry house, leaving the guy in the toilet to pay the bill!) So the Taxi was slowed down to walking pace and on the signal they threw open the doors and scarpered...

Unfortunately they were by now in a dead end street, so they all got caught except for the driver, who couldn't work out how to stop the vehicle, so having slowed right down he also jumped out a little further down the street. The Taxi (after a bit of pinball) came to a damaging halt at the wall at the end of the street

While the police were busy rounding up all the runners, they left their vehicle still running, which the student driver then commandeered for the rest of his journey home

Rounded up before the Dean next day, they were advised that a repeat of the incident would signal the end of their medical careers. Before anyone gets too affronted, they were also all charged @ £1000 for the damage as well.

"Now," said the Dean, as he produced a bottle of sherry, (being as he was naturally the President of the Rugby Club) "let me tell how I stole a Train when I was in India..."

That, of course, was youthful high spirits, quite different from today''s juvenile delinquency...

Then of course there was the storming of the Imperial Hotel Torquat at the1957 Merlin Rocket Championships led by Ian Proctor, Bob Hoare and John Oakley.

many years ago, on the way back from Murrayfield, we stopped off at a tavern near Chester, all 40 of us on the bus. we were in high spirits having beaten the Scots in a close game.

Arriving back home we were met by a half dozen of the local plods who escorted the lot of us to the Courthouse, there not being enough room at the local nick for all of us. Seems that someone had taken a fancy to the leather chairs we were sat in at the said tavern and had purloined a few to bring home.

We were asked one by one as to who was responsible, no-one knew. Events got a bit difficult when someone asked for legal representation at his interview and it was realised that all six of the town solicitors were at that moment locked up downstairs in a state of maudlin 'tiredness', along with two of the local doctors and sundry other 'great and good' of the area.

we were all let off with a waggled finger and a promise not to do anything that daft again. The chairs were taken back the next day.
