New Year Resolutions?

Post by jpa_wfsc »

My new year resolve is to reduce the number of boats that I own but am not sailing.

Obviously, the first step has been... to buy ANOTHER boat. N12 2777 *Orlando* a Cheshire Cat.

A Good start to the year?

Who is the 12 for? Or are you planning on taking on the Wed Night singlehanded 12 fleet?

Half your fleet is for sale!

That's awfully similar to my sailing resolution but getting the extension built and the house done is the top one this year so sailing may get pushed aside until we've literally got a new roof over our heads.

Another National 12. Its a pity I am in the wrong club - close but no cigar. It would be nice to chase around another N12 around the lake in my Sparkle 2383.

well - we have several events at WSC this year we could meet at - CVRDA training, Cotswold federation.. and if I am able to borrow a double stacker trailer then a combination of the 12 and the Unit might visit some event this year - Hunts in particular. We shall see.. Thats another Resolution for this year!

The 12 (Rupert) is mainly for me and Jane to sail - the Skua is too heavy for her (its got a huge Genoa!). Its also definately at its best on open water - some of the best sails of my life have been in the Skua in a good breeze at Calshot.

Well my resolution for 2013 is simply to sail more. Now I have the Solo there won't be problems with finding a crew so I hope this will be an easy one to keep.

My only one is to see if Zenith will float this year.

Current progress shows that 80+ ribs to go with 2 or 3 per evening means that I'll be busy putting in ribs until the clocks change.

Just to go sailing. After a three year break it's amazing to be back on the race course. I am doing terribly at the moment, but at least that gives me something to aim for!

And of course to run a superb first CVRDA Nationals at Hunts for you all!

one and a half resolutions:
1 Some work on Iska merlin 6. She was leaking so badly the last time we took her out which was two years ago that we had to return to shore within five minutes. Remove keel, sort out garboards, sort out and fefit keel should sort the problem. The nails holding the garboards are not roved and are just loose now so basically the hull is not attached to the hog and keel in places. the joint between hog and keel is wide open too. at least since is it not glued down removal should be easy. The other job is to repair the side decks and their structure which is failing. At the moment we can't stand on the floor or sit on the side either!
1.5 Start work on the Int 14 if possible.

Now I have built the de luxe boat shed/workshop and Angie has her new kitchen(20 years in the waiting) I must give the family GP some very much needed tlc. This will probably require removal of centreboard case to cure the leak and she badly needs some new decks.
Apart from that as much sailing as I can fit in. Starting with the Starcross Steamer on 20th January.
