Tata sailing club previously called Corus

Post by leedsy »

Does any body remember how many people went to the event 2009? I am now sailing a Harrier there and was wondering if the event needs to resurected

There were quite a few of us there as we combined with Bristol Avon club away weekend and it was a nice event and an easy venue to get to, just by the M4. The water is super with plenty of room for faster boats and clean wind from the sea. If enough local interest can be generated then we would like to go there again but local support is the key.

We did one day with the Hornet, I remember that we had broken something and lots of members offered to help repair it for the next day but we were going home anyway. Nice place to sail. Not sure I am goig to be travelling much next year though.

Now here is an idea....... how about making this the 'performance boat' event. It doesn't have to be exclusive for the performance boats, but it could be targetted at them. It is close to the likes of Portishead so we'd get Mirror 14s and the like. A much better place to attract trapeze boats to than some piddling pond where the wind shifts (or stops) every 50 yards.

Back allowing, I'd be up for Tata!

Spoken to the movers and shakers at the club, they would be happy to host another open. Cvrda open on the Sat, and Cvrda start in with the club 3 races on the Sunday, Over nihgt camping at the club We have 2 opens in May so would be looking at a date June/July, I am at Bristol this weekend so I will see if we can work dates out then.

Hey Leedsy....now you go careful down there is Brizzle! You'll need a translator for starters! (not to mention the fact that the ladies there will eat you for breakfast!)
I think the idea of an event at Corus would be great......easy access for those in the SW, not too far from civilisation for the rest of us! What would you be sailing?

See you at the Dinghy Show??

Great......... there is possibly another Harrier that will come out to play. I know the ACs and ICs have great sailing at the Corus lake so it could be a good event for the trapeze boats. Is your Osprey a classic too?

See you later
