Scoring a HIT at Clywedog
Scoring a HIT at Clywedog
Drove past the Lake today but -very little wind, will there be breeze come August?
But shock horrors......the plans to sail a Merlin at the Nationals have taken a bit knock, nearly as bad as the knock that Susan took that broke her finger!
Of course, another way of saying that you've suffered a knock is that you 'took a hit' - I thought that scoring a HIT might suggest that I'd been partaking of illegal substances but - is there a chance of sailing a HiT at the Nationals. I don't fancy a Finn, am too big for a Moth...would slash wrists in a So slow.....but a HIT...could it be done.
Picture from today enclosed..

Re: Scoring a HIT at Clywedog
I've been quite tempted by that Hit, it looks a good boat and I'd love to find out how it compares to a Finn (according to the blurb I'll get thrashed). But, I don't do a lot of sailing and so two boats is enough, and I don't want to part with either so I'm reduced to idle contemplation. So, go on David, I'd love to see one sailing at Clywedog!

Peter,
well.... I've opened negotiations!
If it were to 'come my way' then you'd be more than welcome to have a go at Clwedog - I'm sure that there would be others who would also fancy a go too.
Watch this space.

Re: Scoring a HIT at Clywedog
Keith,
if I can 'sore that hit' (this could get me 15 months hard labour!) then the answer is a yes...and will be featuring the event in one of my articles!
I still think the Smokers would be 'the' boat for the event but that is not a option this time around...so I'm aiming for a bulls-eye!

Re: Scoring a HIT at Clywedog
and one for me please in case my wooden stick explodes again!
Re: Scoring a HIT at Clywedog
Would you believe it! I was about to cry 'foul' about all these hugely incorrect comments about my ability not to break things when..... an essential part of the new Merlin Rocket planning was a length of batten marked up with key measurements.
Correction..make that two lengths of batten, which when added together give a close approximation of key measurements!
Think I need a very simple single hander that has the minimum of fittings - I'll sail it a few times, after which everything that might break has broken... then I'll be fine!

Re: Scoring a HIT at Clywedog
Peter,
I'll be looking to you for some good tips - sailing with unstayed rigs is not something that I'm well versed in (I'd say that I'd actually worked hard at avoiding them in the main). So now I have a lot to learn in a short space of time - eeek! I am sure that there will be plenty of advice on hand....
Let's hear it for the Lost Classes..............
