Strange Mirroe dagger boards

Does anyone know why one of the dagger boards in this listing on ebay has the cutouts?

It's the second lot that have appeared like this

They're probably trying to get round one design rules. Something vaguely like that used to happen with 470 rudders. At a guess you're only allowed to shape the board within x inches of the edge, so by making the board radically narrow in the middle its a better hydrodynamic shape there. IMHO its the sort of thing a sensible measurer should stamp on hard on sight - in this case literally!

Shame its being broken up. It looks in pretty good nick.

Edit : I see now he says she has big holes in the hull.

Cheerful chap threatening small claims court etc.
