a Merlin has the Sail Number "tattoed"across the thwart :: does the Enterprise have similar arrangements :: if so where will i find the numbers??
i can't find any signs of them on "E110" - peter

An enterprise usually has the number on the transom, I think on the inside.

on 8539 the number appears on the OUTSIDE of the Transom - I'll have to dig under the paint on 110 to see whether it IS there - peter

IIRC the ent construction rules specifiy transom as a the location where the number shall be permanently marked i've seen routed / carved and 'burnt' numbers usually on the outside face .

Having just stripped the transom on a wooden Enterprise, I found the number near to the starboard floor panel, on the outside.

having recontacted the previous owner - all was revealed - when he acquired her the transom had crumbled away so he didn't realise that there was a number - so sorted - thanks for all comments!!
