Roadford Nationals important

Post by alan williams »

I would advise you to book your camping now!! Especially if you have a motorhome or caravan. Pitches on hard standing and with power are going fast. Details of how to contact the watersports centre for camping tel 01409 211507 e-mail roadfordoa@swlakestrust.org.uk Block bookings of over 10 units (including tents), maybe entitled to a discount enquire at the time of booking, which needs to be at least 3 weeks before the event for any discount. Individual Roadford members are unable to 3rd party book so please don't ask us too.
Cheers Al

Roadford clashes with the contender worlds, which may or may not be a fixture for me, depending on how my knee cartilage takes to trapezing again. Should I hedge my bets and book or should I hope to be lucky?

Hi Nessa
You will be Ok if tenting. The demand for spaces is for Motorhomes and Caravans that want hard standing and power. Those not needing hard standing but power also need to be aware and reserve pitches. Should you not need hard standing and power or are tenting not a problem. Where are the Contender World Champs somewhere nice I hope?

Thanks Alan, useful to be able to hedge our bets! The champs are in Medemblik in Holland. Nikky is half Dutch and we lee going over there. The facilities in Nedemblik are fantastic and the sailing great. Alas, like so many places abroad, the veggie food choice is awful!

Hi Nessa
Medemblik is a really nice place, people are very friendly. Sailed a Hornet champ there way back, when we used to tow the boat with an old brought for £25 A40 Devon. Good area to sail but is shallow in places a really nasty short chop can develop. Hope your knee is Ok. I tore my medial ligaments at Clywedog last year and then continued to sail. The tare then moved up to a level 3 ( at least that's how the Uni's sports therapist described it), and I also damaged my meniscus (cartilage). I was told to but a Mueller hinged sports brace Hb 60. Which provides great stability a will allow me to hike. I don't think you could trapeze with one. It may be worth your while to as Nicky if she knows of any sports therapist who could recommend something to support your knee. It would be a shame if you could not make Roadford but believe me I understand sailing abroad is always so much fun and it's a worlds. I would have loved to have seen the 14 again having raced against her on many occasions. Knee, heart and time permitting I'm hoping to come up to Hunts. Any close by Travel Lodges, Premier Inns etc. or accommodation at reasonable prices? I will not bring the van as it's only two days and it takes ages to get any where towing the boat.

Hi Dean
Entry is £35 and includes launching fees for Saturday and Sunday. As your down for longer make sure that you tell the administrator of Roadford Outdoor and Active that your sailing in the Nats. other wise they will charge you for the weekend.
