sailaway sails

Post by bobrogers »

Hi all,
I'm trying to resurrect an old Pearson Brothers Sailaway Dinghy, I'm in need of a reasonable set of sails if anyone out there knows where I could get such an item could you please let me know.

Thanks in advance Bob.

Hi Bob,

unless someone here happens to have some tucked away, it is likely to be either new or eBay and a lot of patience/luck. I believe the original mainsail was sleeved onto both the mast and the boom - if that is what you are looking for then it may be a bit of a challenge to find some second hand

Nigel.

I had a spare set of sails that I passed on to someone at my club when he bought a Sailaway from me. I know he doesn't use them so will ask next weekend for you. They are the later multi colured ones not tan.

Thanks guys, but due to a Land Rover rear ending me on Monday morning She is no more. I had her on a trailer taking her to be sprayed and traffic lights stopped me but not the afore mentioned Land Rover following. Big bang loads of fibreglass and she will never see water again.

Thanks for your help.

Oh s**t!
Hope you're ok, Bob....
I guess his insurance company has no choice but to cough up...
Lucky it happened on the way to the sprayer, not on the way home...

Thanks Yea I'm fine. Boat was a crumple zone, trailer could do with some minor repairs and now it's in the hands of Hastings direct.

Oh dear, seems to have been a weekend for it. We had the RS200 inlands at our club on Sat, and one of the intended entrants had his boat pushed into the back of his car on the way there.

That is a real shame!

I would be interested to know how the insurers manage to value it.
