Aw.....come on.....Aggie would be perfect :-)

Actually a Firefly would be perfect....reckon we will all be following Rupe.

Sounds like a lot of interest and as I now I have also worked out that this is the bit of Avon I have driven over so many times, thinking would love to sail that sometime.....reckon I will put it in the diary. Now all I need is a car capable of towing a boat up there.

My Hit is on a double stacker - your Firefly will sit on top. Problem solved.

Sounds good to me! :-)

although I do need to get my head around getting another tow-car as sailing just at Roadford is a little limiting.

cheers

That would be very useful Chris, do you know his number,

By the way does he have a daughter who is a very good crew who recently appeared in a National Magazine?

This is rather exciting!!! I look forward to welcoming you all to SSC for some adventures on the river (ditch sailing as its sometimes called!). Basically I have the go ahead to hold the event so long as there is interest so, as there clearly is, I will speak to people my end and get it confirmed as part of our calendar, then speak to Peter - is that the right thing?

I did wonder if a 1 day event on a bank hol Monday would work, as I say camping will be avalible and I would imagine there would be no problem with anyone who wants to joining in with our Sunday club racing - will confirm these details closer to the time...

Ed - yes it is the bit of the Avon which is crossed by the m5 just north of Tewkes, but sounds like you've worked that out....

I'm also looking forward to showing our Comet fleet some proper boats!

Yes, do go ahead. As soon as your date is fixed we'll officially put it in the CVRDA calender. several of our events have the option to join in with club racing which makes sense all round.
Many thanks.

Tony, would be great to have you with us, either boat would be good, MR may be the more natural river boat but we have a history of Finn sailing at my club too. That said short tacking a Finn on the river is hard work on the legs, fortunately their are bends in the river so short tacking all the way can't really happen!

For myself, if I have a zenith in service by then I might be tempted to use one of them, but I probably won't so will probably be in the Finn as usual.

Chris - the date for the picnic race is confirmed, I will get the CVRDA invite to join us for it confirmed (just a formality with this much interest!) and let you know.

Thanks
Keith

Sounds great ! :D .

Won't the river be busy with all the narrowboats/ powerboaters on a bank holiday ?. As if the event is, where I think it is, is it not part of the Avon ring ?.

Well done Keith. There is a lot of interest!! It was in my diary after Banbury with the hope that you could organise. I think that this is one for Olwyn, Kate and Cassie.
Hopefully see you in Bristol.

Thanks Giles! Yes getting much more interest than I expected! I plan to be in Bristol so see you there...

Jules - you are right about the location, there are always some narrow boats and cruisers - they are one of the challenges of river sailing and due to their size they have right of way over us! Although logically it might I can't say I've noticed bank holidays having a big effect on their numbers, what does have an effect is the weather - seems they are not the hardiest types and like sunshine!

Great idea Keith and dates permitting I would certainly be interested in giving it a go. Haven't really done any river sailing since my days at Trent Valley longer ago than I care to admit. Should make an interesting change although I don't think it would be a venue for the Magnum!

Cheers and see you at Bristol

Bit late reading this post but as my TOY would not be the most suitable, pending work commitments assuming I actually have a job I was going to make Roger the offer he already seems to be suggesting!! pick something Merlin shaped out of the shed!
