Re: what's this???
MR maybe? Is the bow vertical enough? There appears to be a number on the thwart....

Do side thwarts mean W & C? Looks like 1226 but I haven't got a year book.

Re: what's this???
1226 would make it a Wyche and Copock mkXII - if it were a MR... but does that c/board lock like it's metal? As far as I know metal plates are'nt allowed.

Re: what's this???
think the last pic with the builder's plate gives it away.
Re: what's this???
It is clearly a Merlin, but the centreboard looks familiar, too, from another class, but I can't think what.

Re: what's this???
Much more likely a Proctor 11 (2) National 12 measured with the e bay elastic tape!
Wyche built the first glued clinker boats and this is likely the second or third tranches.

Re: what's this???
That first shot makes it look longer than a 12, but other do look more dumpy, if that is the right word. I just assumed camera angles.

Re: what's this???
I don't know whether this is entirely relevant , but the Wych and Coppock Proctor markV11 circa 1957 'Caprice, I owned, had rolled side decks, and as said a more upright looking bow, the latter characteristic in all Merlin Rockets, after the original Wizard ones like Kate and even Gentley which didn't?
Lovely craft a bit Roly Poly, I crewed , helmed on a Holt Martine which was heavier feeling but that was two up, however when lifting her skirts both had a fair old turn of speed and that's why I sold my second Fireball after acquiring my one.
The Harrier I just acquired looks oh so wide beamed Keith Callaghan MR 'single hander' as does the latest Hadron 2! Well only going on his Facebook Page.
Although the original Uffa Fox Nationals were I believe designed for the Royal Harwich YC There aren't many in evidence on the Orwell now. A few 14s but again a few wide bodied 12s but few earlier types.
I can't say I know the nuances of the class, or that there was a National 11, presuming the tape measure anecdote, by Bill Connor, wasn't a Josh.

If the number is 1226, it's not an N12... N12 1226 was designed by Charles Currey, and built by Chippendale...

Re: what's this???
I've just blown up the picture, and it looks more like 1776... which is a Proctor Mk4A, built by W&C in 1955...
At that price I'm sorely tempted... My much more modern N12 is too tippy for me...

Re: what's this???
I agree a Proctor mk 4a National 12 apart from anything else the side decks are far too narrow for a Merlin Rocket
Re: what's this???
Looks like a N12 to me, except the angle does make it look longer I admit.
But forgetting that, it simply looks like a N, not a Merlin.
The plaque says it was a proctor design built by W&C.
I reckon the number is 1776, which would make it a Mark4a called Islay Mist, built by W&C.

Re: what's this???
About 1970 I had N12 sail no. 400 ish, and that had a metal centrplate.
