Fireball spinnakers and a jib - anyone have any interest

Post by phil58490 »

I bought a sail and it came as a job lot with two Fireball spinnakers and a jib. I have no use for these, I am told they are at least fifteen years old but are intact and usable. As yet I haven't taken then out of the bag. If anyone has any interest I'll take them out of the bag and take some photos. A small donation to the RNLI and postage would be the asking price.

I think I could find a use for them. Shall I e-mail you?

Thats fine, which ones do you want? PM me an address and I will get what you want off to you. The spinnakers fold and roll up quite small but not sure about the jib as it is rolled at the moment. I will work out the cheapest postage or courier costs.

Hi,
If Godfrey doesn't want both spinnakers then I would quite like the other one.
Thanks

Well Sam I heard a rumour that you were putting an RS400 assymetric kite on the Albacore so I thought I'd better give it a go! Just need a miniature crew to do the hoists and drops and put the pole on now?

We put a Merlin mid size kite on a Lark once and had great difficulty stopping before we were carried over the dam!

We tried a Scorpion brolly on a Miracle a few years ago. That was quite exciting. It would have been better if either of had any idea what we were doing!

 +1

Sandy often fancies trying a kite on the Albacore and with several sizes of Merlin and Lark ones available and a few blocks tied on (well soft shackles are trendy aren't they?) I reckon it will happen one day......

I don't see why not although its not an avenue I would be keen to go down. It works on Swordfish which is pretty much the same thing. Under no circumstances let the Albacore association get wind of this or they will send a hit squad round

My cousin had one of my old Hornet spinnakers which he used to use on his Albacore when cruising. Found it very useful when cheating tides.
