Post by davidh »

All,

I'm now hearing that there will be a formal confirmation in the next 24- 48 hrs that the Proctor Gala event will be slipped back to a date in early September.

As soon as I hear more I will put up a new post on here

It’s 1st and 2nd September, to coincide with the Classic Boat Revival but with the first day being devoted to the Centennial. Unfortunately we can’t go and nor can Ian and Lyndon, so no Agamemnon.

This is the email I received

The organisers of the Ian Proctor Centenary Rally due to be held 2-3 June 2018 at Bosham Sailing Club, have announced that the event will be moved to 1-2 September 2018 when it will be the highlight of the Club's annual Classic Boat Revival, the UK's premier regatta for classic dinghies.

The change of dates will allow a number of important Proctor designed boats to attend the event.

The Bosham Classic Boat Revival attracts entries from all over the UK and abroad, and its prestigious profile makes it a fitting regatta at which to celebrate Ian Proctor and his iconic designs.

Ian Proctor Centenary Rally & Classic Boat Revival 1st & 2nd September 2018

On behalf of Bosham Sailing Club and the Proctor family, we would like to invite you to participate in a celebration of Ian Proctor’s life and career to be held over the weekend of 1st-2rd September in Bosham, West Sussex.

In addition to the usual Classic Boat Revival entrants, we are expecting a good number of the most iconic Proctor-designed boats still afloat to gather as a fitting tribute to a remarkable designer.

Boats will gather on Bosham meadow from Friday 31st August, with registration opening from 14.00 until aprox 18.30 in Club.

On Friday evening we will be holding a Gala Dinner at Bosham Sailing Club which will celebrate Ian’s remarkable career. Tickets can be booked via the online entry forms with priority going to sailors entering the event.

On Saturday & Sunday we are planning a series of five races, starting from two committee boats, with entrants split into three fleets.

Subject to interest, there will be a series of low key harbour races for a fourth fleet dedicated to Proctor designs who do not wish to compete in the fast and slow fleets.

Prizes will be awarded for racing and also the prestigious Concours d’Elegance, which over the previous eight years has seen some stunning boats. A Concours d'Elegance prize will also be awarded to a suitable Proctor design in addition to our usual Classic Boat Revival winner. A programme of events is attached.

Thanks to our generous sponsors, the entry price per boat has been kept to £25 for single handers, £30 for double handers and £35 for triple handers. This includes entry to the racing over two days in Chichester Harbour, a specially commissioned commemorative glass and an illustrated Life Story of Ian Proctor booklet compiled by the Proctor family, for each helm & crew.

Friday’s three course Gala Dinner tickets will cost £25 per person. When booking, please notify us of any special dietary needs so that our chef can offer you suitable alternatives. Dress code: smart casual. On Saturday evening we will have a casual club supper with live music for all to enjoy, with booking details to follow.

Full details of the event, including the Notice of Race (also attached), will appear on the event’s pages on the Classic Boat Revival website

We have already received interest from across the UK and from overseas for the event, which is also attracting significant media interest.

We would therefore be grateful if you could confirm your participation as soon as possible by completing our online booking & entry form here

Through the generosity of some club members, we have a limited amount of free local accomodation available for those participating in the whole event. if you are interested in this, please contact us via accommodation@classicboatrevival.co.uk

We look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers
