Hi all, here's a strange looking old duck:
It appears to be a Chrysler Man O'War, but the rig is very different: according to Chrysler's blurb it should have a 2 piece laser-style mast and a sleeve luff sail with no kicker (bet that added to the fun on breezy days!) and vertical battens so that you could roll the sail round the mast. This thing has a tapered ally mast with conventional track, halyard, kicker, and a sail by Musto & Hyde (I think), with a full length top batten. The mast is UK manufactured and the sail insignia is different from the US boats, so I'm wondering if this was a license-built version with a better rig aimed at the uk market? Judging from the sail number they seem to have sold a few.

Man O'War for the uk market?
Re: Man O'War for the uk market?
Looks like a Merlin Rocket rig. Symbol three me, I think it's actually a 'Daring' symbol now.

Man of War here http://sailboatdata.com/viewrecord.asp?class_id=4861
IIRC correctly Macalpine Downie never got any royalties for the Chrysler designs and he did quite a few in the 1960's
Wasn't there a singlehanded trapeze dinghy called Rebel?, early 80's, with unstayed mast with that insignia??

I did initially think Merlin, being pointed, but 'Merlin' solid colour, I then thought 'Daring' very similar symbol, perhaps a 'Daring' mainsail.
This is 'Daring' symbol.

That Daring logo is an isosceles triangle, your logo is more a sail shape, similar to the West Wight boats (West Wight Potter etc)

I had one of "Man O War" for a short time, quite an exciting sail.
Sold it to one of our cadets, probably still in his garden.
