Events 2020

Post by PeterV » Fri Oct 18, 2019 10:24 am

It's that time of year when clubs and classes are looking at their programme for next year. If your club is considering a CVRDA event next year please let me know.
Some of our events have been poorly attended this year so I'll re-state what we've said before, for an event to be successful there needs to be a number of people interested at the host club so that the event isn't entirely dependant on visitors

Hi All

Its been a few years since we've invited the CVRDA to Thames Sailing Club. This year is incredibly significant for the UK's oldest river club - it's our 150th Anniversary! So we're planning to have a special celebratory weekend on the 20th/21st June. We'll have a number of classes racing during the event including of course the Thames A Raters which will be out in force. We want to celebrate the diversity of classes that have sailed at the club with a vintage handicap fleet and would love to have the CVRDA along in strength. To that end, I'd like to petition you all as to what would work best for you. Would you prefer to be included in the programme for a 1 day series of races, or for both days? If it's both days, then expect to have some entertainments laid on on the Saturday evening.

We don't have much in the way of camping at the club - some of you that have visited before know that 2 or 3 small tents can perch precariously on the top of our bank over-looking the river (don't roll over in your sleep!). But there's a few members happy to make their gardens available and there are some hotels in kingston and surbiton at the usual sorts of rates.

Would this be of interest to anyone? Hoping to be able to welcome some new faces and some old.

Cheers

Good to hear from you again Mr Ben!
It sounds like a nice event, especially if you can cope with some camper vans in the car park overnight!
Would anyone else be interested?

Camper vans very welcome. We can probably arrange some power to the vans also. So are you up for a 2 day event then Pat?

Yes, see my separate post about the Classic Finn Travellers, and it's also on the BFA site. It will be on 3/4 October at Northampton.

As ever, it is down to event organisers to choose whether they wish to go ahead with an event and down to individuals if they wish to travel to an event that is going ahead.
