Sorry I thinnk I may have posted twice by mistake however. I got a couple of splits and cracks that need filling.

My question is do I need specific marine wood filler or can the local B&Q obilge. Its a varnished twelve ft boat that will be launched and retrieved and stored ashore between each trip.

Thanks

There are 2 schools of thought on this, as ever...I'm of the any gunk will do school, others will tell you that you need the superior quality of marine products. We are all right, as it depends what you want to achieve with your boat.If she is a cheap and cheerful knockabout, just use whatever comes to hand. If she is a family heirloom, go get the good stuff from a chandler! The main thing on a varnished boat is that you don't want car body filler because it is grey!
