All,

Reference Trevor C's ealier questio on Netley, the date of August 11th and 12th is very much 'ON'!!! - expect a poster to be hitting your doorstep (well, inbox) any day now.

For all the freshwater wusses, come and see how much better your boat floats in 'real' water. I've even sorted the weather out, that weekend will be grand (Roger - NOT like the recent Hornet event) so camping and life al fresco will be the order of the day - helped out I'm sure by oddles of cheap beer.

Okay - 1st start on the saturday is at 12,(that's noon guys - not at night) two nice races, then the beer starts, a barbie, then join in with the Netley frolics on a 'Latin' themed night - and YES...... participation is mandatory.

For those with any brain cells left come the Sunday - we join in with the club sailors in an all comers Pursuit Race - just the one, but it could be lots of laughs trying to sail whilst still way past the legal limit for anything else other than sleeping.

All I'll ask (apart from a request of the Finn sailors NOT to do anything unsavory in the corners of the bar) is that if you think you're going to come along to please give me a quick shout on the website
http://www.bearfacemedia.co.uk

so I've some ideas of numbers - can you also let me know

are you camp (ing)?
will you be alive (ie, sailing) sunday?
any special dietry needs (cider rather than bitter?

See you all (I hope) at Costa del Southampton Water - as the saying goes, "come on in, the waters lovely" - just ask Roger - he knows!!!!!

Emma Hamilton will be there on Sunday hopefully for the weekend if I can twist my crews arm far enough!
Pursuit race sounds good as we should get at least an extra hours hangover recovery time!

Big C! Surely not.... Can't believe that you'd not be on top form. You'll have the F18s and F20s to chase but be warned - there is a dynamite A class that is a pain to us all!

The aim to to have everything from British moths to the C class - and everything in between!

Be warned - as it is a party nite there may just be some 'shot' drinking at some point (not me though - FAR too sensible). After all, it is only a short stagger to the camping field!

David hopefully will have Shoestring ready for the event(did you measure that boom?). The other planker will definitely be there and if Shoestring isnt ready the modern one which still qualifies will come. The girls will be bringing the GP so look out for the ladylike language on the water.
Netley is a great place to sail and the water isnt too lumpy although it does taste funny. The club in my experience is very friendly and the casino night laid on for the Hornet/Scorpion open was great fun. Just as well it was pretend money I lost a small fortune.

Roger,

am on it!

If you thought the Casino night was fun...wait till you hit the Latin themed night (the mind boggles!).

Rule number 1 at Netley is 'don't swallow' - then things don't taste so bad!

We're planning to come for the weekend, sailing both days and camping.
We took a sneaky peek at the club on saturday after a shoppping trip to the chandlery barge and towsure and liked the look of it. The camping field is large and screened. Can we get an electric hookup?
It opens onto a wide part of Southampton Water and the large vessels keep right over to the opposite side so there's plenty of room outside the channel when the tide's in. Watched some RS having a blast.

For those who haven't been before follow the signs to Netley Country Park and go into the park, keeping alongside the water. When the road turns away there's a track to the club by the shore with a gate - David could you arrange for it NOT to be locked? It was open when we drove in but someone locked it whilst we were at the club and the ice cream van had to let us out!!

Sadly, I'm having to work on the Saturday, so cannot get there for then. Yet to work out whether coming down on the Sat afternoon and sailing on the Sunday is a viable thing.

We're planning to be there. Probobly in the OK. We'll be staying at Lizzys folks who live just up the road. Lizzy is really looking forward to it as she spent a lot of her childhood at netley waiting for daddy to come back !! :D

All,

make a note of this number!

2531 (christmas day, new years eve is a good reminder)

The gate is locked to keep out the undesirables but since Alans isn't coming (only joking Sir - your presence will be sorely missed, all the more so as Mike Stroud, ex Horneteer and p*ss artiste extraordinaire) is our Race officer

Happy Campers - turn up when ever!!
