Greg I need to check but I think Shearwater is first weekend of october I will try and contact our sailing secretary tonight.

Re Corus. Fit it in when suits them and we have the biggest gap. If it is large sailing water i will have to chose which Hornet to take. Might have got lanker fixed by then.

Hello, Chris and I pass this lake often on our way to Carmarthen. It takes about 2hours from Frome, maybe a bit more trailing a boat. The water is very open, not huge but fair sized. Good views of the steelworks!!!

You can see it from the M4 so getting there should be easy.

Hope that's helpful.

Fingers crossed Corus is one that I can make: Right now I'm well nigh immobile, after wrenching my back securing a 36ft yacht in the recent storms. Even if I still can't sail I'll be at BW though.

Is Corus one day ot two - and if two, what is the local accommodation like?

Looking forward to sailing the revitalised Sandtex Scow there

Sadly this is a mono hull only lake with no limit on length however keel boats are limited to around the length of a flying fifteen, im asking to see if a certain FD is allowed

Moringscan be put out for keel boats and a jetty is there too

there are no shallow bits around the lake except where the slip way is.

sounds idea!

The FD is actually a tad smaller than a fifteen so hopefully it should be ok. We should see a few FD's this year attending events, Julian Bridges is coming to Clwedog and I know of two others who have said they will try to do Netley.

It will be great to see an FD fleet out. Mind you Julian is no slouch on the normal circuit so we could see a change in the name on the nationals plate. David looks like a challenge has been set.

Roger,

as well you know from your earlier forays to the 'costa del soton', racing there mid summer should mean that the sea breezes will be kicking in. If so, then the beats will be longer and the reaches broader, ideal FD conditions (though equally attractive to a peggie, jollyboat or even a hornet).

Unless you get very unseasonal conditions you can even race a British Moth there, indeed, in the Civil Service event along at Netley Cliff, the Littleton Moth fleet used to make up a very competitive package.

If anyone is interested..... and this is NOT a plug, I had no hand in this and was almost wrong footed but, the latest Dinghy Sailing Mag has a very good article by Mark Rushall on sailing in Southampton Water.... which tells you which way to go.

I may well crib some of that for July but in case anyone is really keen (or planning a serious assault on the silverware).... well, there it is

Not sure about Corus as I had already pencillled the Upper Thames Firefly Open in for that weekend.
David, the prospect of sailing a BM up an FD length beat could cause me to lose an awful lot of sleep.... Just as well I am not bringing one... F or N12 probably
